Back in 2020, the Cleveland Guardians decided to move on from their controversial "Indians" nickname. It was about a year or so before we got confirmation on the new "Guardians" brand. Before that, I played around with a few ideas and ultimately came up with the familiar mohawk-baseball mascot from the movie Major League, complete with the famous Rick Vaughn glasses. Now, there wasn't much of a chance that the new team name would be centered around anything like this, but I always thought it presented a lot of fun and interesting visual opportunities. It could have been a great way to incorporate the Rock N' Roll vibes that Cleveland is known for, without being too on-the-nose about it. Plus, you can't tell me "Mohawk Giveaway Night" wouldn't have been an absolute wild success.
